Access: The Library is available to the public for reference use only. Those wishing to borrow may apply to register as External Readers. Members of other Higher Education Institutions may have access via the SCONUL access scheme. Borrowing is allowed through the Canterbury Circle Scheme.
Brief Description of Library and its services: The Library serves a population of over 15,000 full and part time students. The University has been established for over 40 years and to its original teacher education strength has now added a wide range of degree and diploma courses covering humanities; science; business studies; radio, film and TV studies; tourism; and health and social care. The University is active in research and in professional development, particularly in education and health. Library Services is also responsible for the provision of Audio Visual Services across the University and the University Information Service on the World Wide Web.

Electronic Resources: The Library subscribes to a growing range of electronic information sources available on the Internet, including 1765 e-books.
Special Holdings: There is a special collection of early children's books, and a collection on Elizabeth Gaskell.
Library Computer System: ALEPH
Computing Facilities: A mix of over 300 mobile and fixed PCs are available throughout the Augustine House Learning Centre.
