Fridays - only open for classes and booked group visits
09:00 - 13:00 1st and 3rd Saturdays

Registration is free but new readers must bring two forms of ID and two passport-sized photographs to register for a CARN ticket. For tours, contact Stephanie Roe, Library Assistant.
Brief Description of Library and its services: An historic library containing a large collection of early printed books. A Search Room is shared with the Cathedral Archives and a collection of modern books is available for use there. There is a close link with the University of Kent which makes a financial contribution to the Library's running costs.
Stock
Printed Stock:
c.52,000, including c.30,000 books and pamphlets printed before 1900. Some manuscripts. Some local newspapers in hard copy and microfilm.
Electronic Resources: Two public access computers in the Search Room may be used to access University of Kent's OPAC.
Special Holdings: Early printed book collections include anti-slavery and other 19th century political tracts, Civil War tracts, Mendham Collection of Roman Catholic material, natural history and travel books, Kentish history, church history and two parish libraries.
Library Computer System: All holdings are catalogued on the University of Kent Templeman Library's online catalogue at http://opac.kent.ac.uk.
Computing Facilities: Two public access computers; Search Room also has facilities for laptop users..
