Brief Description of Library and its services:

The Library at Barton Court re-opened in January 2008 after its relocation in the space that was the gymnasium.  It is very spacious, contemporary, light and airy.  Resources and study space are on the first floor, a bank of 30 computers on the mezzanine.  The large windows on one side allow for lovely views of the lake, the Cathedral and beyond and contribute to making the Library an inviting, pleasant environment and an ideal atmosphere for study and as a social space.  Books are loaned for 3 weeks or 3 days; students may borrow up to 3 books, Six Formers and Staff may borrow up to 5 books.

Printed Stock:

The Library's book collection of around 12,000 volumes includes fiction for all ages, graphic novels, foreign language books, information books, including reference works.  Other resources include local and national newspapers, a wide range of journals and magazines, a careers Library and DVDs.  Printing and photocopying facilities are available.  The Library resources aim to reflect and support the teaching and learning at Barton Court, meet and support the curriculum/information needs and leisure readings interests of students and staff, including resources aimed at the IB curriculum, and cater for different genders, cultures, and abilities.
